Buying a Lamborghini Diablo at auction in Japan

Some cars rarely reach the open market. Finding them can mean going directly to the source: in this case, a Japanese auction house.

ES Signature is about finding the cars that rarely reach the open market. Sometimes, finding them means going directly to the source. For our film We Flew to Japan to Buy the World’s Rarest Cars, that source was Japan.

Why Japan

Japan holds some of the most interesting cars in the world: rare Porsche 993s and 964s, pre-merger AMGs, and limited runs such as the Subaru Impreza STI RAR, one of 50 in Sonic Yellow.

A man on the ground

Buying well at a distance depends on having someone there. In Japan, we have a man on the ground.

Inspection first

Before any bid, the car is inspected. In the film, that included a close look at a rare AMG.

Bidding live

We bid live at auction on a yellow Lamborghini Diablo, and won it.

Sourced and built

Whether it is an exceptionally rare factory specification, a car sourced internationally or something that does not exist yet, every commission starts with the individual. If there is a car you have been chasing, tell us what you are looking for.
